ByMyHonor Platform
Problem
The client's employee handbook and company content lived in static documents — PDFs, Google Docs, Confluence pages — that nobody could keep current. Onboarding new hires meant sending a ZIP of PDFs. Content updates required manual copy-paste across multiple locations. No search, no versioning, no analytics.
Solution
A digital platform with content management, onboarding flows, and a clean publishing workflow — delivered end-to-end, from data model to deploy.
Architecture
- Backend: Laravel 11 + PostgreSQL
- Frontend: React + TypeScript + Tailwind (separate SPA)
- Auth: Laravel Sanctum + SSO (Google Workspace / Azure AD)
- Content: Block-based editor (TipTap) with version history
- Search: Meilisearch for instant full-text search
- Analytics: Custom events + Plausible for privacy-friendly analytics
- Infrastructure: Docker + GitHub Actions CI/CD to AWS ECS Fargate
Key Features
Block-Based Content Editor
TipTap-based editor with custom blocks: callouts, tabs, accordions, embeds, code blocks with syntax highlighting, tables, checklists. All blocks are versioned.
Onboarding Flows
Role-based onboarding tracks: new hire sees Day 1/Week 1/Month 1 checklists. Progress tracked, reminders automated via email/Slack.
Publishing Workflow
- Draft to Review to Approve to Publish
- Scheduled publishing with timezone support
- Instant rollback to any previous version
- Change notifications (email/Slack) per section
Search & Analytics
Meilisearch indexes all content in real-time. Typo-tolerant, filterable by tag/author/date. Analytics show most-viewed pages, search queries with no results, time-on-page.
Results
- Onboarding time: Reduced from 2 weeks to 2 days
- Content updates: From days to minutes
- Search adoption: 85% of employees use search weekly
- Content freshness: 95% of pages updated within 30 days
Key Technical Decisions
- Meilisearch over Elasticsearch: Simpler ops, instant search, typo-tolerance out of the box
- TipTap over custom editor: Extensible, collaborative-ready, ProseMirror under the hood
- Laravel + SPA over Inertia: Team preferred React/TypeScript for complex UI; API cleanly separated
- Fargate over EC2: Zero server management, auto-scales with traffic
Ongoing Engagement
The platform is live and in active use. Current roadmap: multi-language support, AI-powered content suggestions, advanced permissions (department/role-based), and public API for integrations.
